When in my hometown of Mombasa, nearly all trips to the beaches ended up with collecting dried coconut shells. I remember asking my folks at home to save me the coconut shells after we had utilised the flesh to make coconut milk!. The now dried halves of a coconut fruit gave me the perfect imperfect mould to make very fine and delicate dishes using paper clay.
