I was born in Kenya and after nearly 4 decades in England, my association with Kenya remains as strong as ever. Though England is now my home Kenya is still my first home! As much as I can I do not want to lose my culture so wherever I can I like to introduce ‘Kenyan’ culture in my work. On a hot summer’s day I made these bowls for ice cream with ‘zebra’ stripes. Each design is unique and they are all hand painted using underglazes. My friend and fellow artisan wood carver produces monochrome spoons for me made from bone.
